Foundation is Everything Thank You for the training you put into Valkhyrie! We have developed a strong and deep respect for each other, and I never knew I could have such a profound relationship with a horse before this. People are constantly asking me about him - where I got him, what type of training he's had, etc., etc. And I always have the honor of telling these people about you and your training stables. I taught Mr. V how to play soccer and he's pretty good. He guards the ball with his front feet so I don't get it - and when I circle around him, he pivots on his front feet keeping the ball between his legs. When I do get the ball and kick it away, he chases me. When I jump over the ball and kick it back with my heel, he retrieves it and tosses it in the air. When he learns to head butt it, I'll be enrolling him in a soccer camp. No, he's not a pet - but he is a genius. I've now joined AERC and we are planning on doing the Oakland 25 mile ride on 9/25. I've been laid up for the past 3 months so he and I have just been spending time on the ground together. We are expert trailer loaders; we know how wonderful a potato chip is; we take a lot of walks and have been known to drive around town together and when I get home from work, I fix a drink and we walk around the block. This past week, I started back riding him. We don't like to walk - we like to trot and run. I get off him from time to time and run down hills but if I don't move it, he pushes me. Gently ... but let's me know he's in a hurry. I'll be looking to take some more classes or clinics with you soon as I can. But, I just want to thank you, Deb, for the foundation you put in him - it has made him what he is. Sheilah Serradell |
